Killer abilities in Bite By Night

Killers hunt the four survivors, and each killer has a distinct set of 15 abilities across the three unlockable animatronics. The Rotten is the free starter, while The Project and Ennard cost Scraps and bring more complex kits.

The Rotten

Unlock: Free
  • Swing (Active, M1): Basic melee attack that deals 34 damage with the axe or 28 with fists.
  • Remnant Cleaver (Active, Q): Charges and throws the axe for around 20 damage, applying bleed and slowness to whoever it hits.
  • Beartrap (Active, E): Places a bear trap after a short setup that stuns any survivor who walks into it.
  • Scream (Active, E): Sends out a shockwave scream that blinds nearby survivors and highlights their location.
  • Charge (Active, R): Lunges forward to grab a survivor, dealing 40% of their current health.

The Project

Unlock: 4,500 Scraps
  • Mode Switch (Active, R): Switches between Strength, Speed, and Stealth modes, changing its stats and available moves.
  • Strength Strike (Active, M1 (Strength mode)): Heavy melee hit that deals 40 damage.
  • Leap (Active, Speed mode): Leaps forward after a short wind-up, dealing 25 area damage and ragdolling anyone caught.
  • Grab (Active, Stealth mode): Grabs and holds a survivor, then drills into them for 25 damage.
  • Underground Drill (Active, Stealth mode): Drills into the ground to become invisible and travel underground, emerging behind survivors.

Ennard

Unlock: 6,000 Scraps
  • Trust No One (Passive, Passive): Hides every survivor's status effects so they cannot tell who is buffed, poisoned, or healing.
  • Swing (Active, M1): Lunges forward and swings for 32 damage on hit.
  • Wire Eyes (Active, Q): Releases wire creatures that latch onto and track survivors.
  • Grab (Active, E): Fires a wire forward that pulls a survivor into melee range.
  • Skin Stealer (Active, R): Disguises as an eliminated survivor, copying their appearance to blend into the group.

Survivor abilities in Bite By Night

Survivors escape by finishing objectives before the night ends, and each survivor class brings two abilities built around a role. There are 12 survivor abilities in total across the Customer, Fighter, Medic, and Security Guard.

Customer

Unlock: Free
  • Pizza (Active, Q): Eats a slice to restore around 30% of missing health.
  • Drink (Active, E): Drinks soda for a short burst of speed, energy, and recovery, followed by a brief slowness.

Fighter

Unlock: 1,350 Scraps
  • Swing (Active, Q): Lunges forward with a fire axe, stunning the killer for about 3 seconds.
  • Parry (Active, E): Blocks an incoming close-range attack, negating the damage and banking a charge for Swing.

Medic

Unlock: 800 Scraps
  • Passive Healing (Passive, Passive): Heals nearby allies for 5 HP every 2 seconds just by standing near them.
  • Self Heal (Active, E): Heals the Medic for 5 HP per second, up to 40 HP, on roughly a 60-second cooldown.

Security Guard

Unlock: 1,100 Scraps
  • Taser (Active, Q): Charges and fires a taser that slows and briefly stuns the killer.
  • Cams (Active, E): Opens the camera system to track survivors, objectives, and the killer, and highlight generators.

Technician

Unlock: 1,600 Scraps
  • Mask On (Active, Q): Equips the V.A.N.N.I. mask and switches to first person, highlighting nearby walls the Technician can phase through.
  • Phase (Active, E): While the mask is on, phases through a highlighted wall to slip out of the killer's line of sight.
  • Static Mirage (Active, Mask off): Drops a trap that applies Slowness and Dazed to the killer. One can be placed roughly every 20 seconds and each lasts about 20 seconds.
  • Fixer Upper (Passive, Passive): Passively speeds up generator and objective completion.

Active vs passive abilities explained

Bite By Night splits abilities into two kinds. Active abilities are the ones you press a key for. They cover the 24 attack, heal, and utility moves in this list, and most carry a cooldown or a setup window so you cannot spam them. Passive abilities need no input and stay on for the whole round. There are only 3 of them: the Medic's Passive Healing aura, which drip-heals nearby allies, and Ennard's Trust No One, which hides survivor status effects so the team cannot spot the disguise. Knowing which of your kit is passive matters, because a passive is value you get for free just by positioning well.

How to unlock every ability

You do not buy abilities one at a time. Each ability is tied to a character, so unlocking that character unlocks its whole kit. Scraps are the currency, earned by playing matches and completing objectives on both sides. Start free with The Rotten on the killer side and the Customer on the survivor side, then bank Scraps toward the character whose abilities fit how you want to play. The cheapest paid kit is the Medic at 800 Scraps; the most expensive is Ennard at 6,000 Scraps. For where each character sits in the meta before you spend, cross-check the tier list and the full character roster.

Bite By Night abilities FAQ

How many abilities are there in Bite By Night?

This database tracks 27 abilities across 8 characters: 3 killers and 5 survivors. Of those, 24 are active abilities you trigger with a key and 3 are passive effects that are always on.

What are The Rotten's abilities in Bite By Night?

The Rotten (Springtrap) has five abilities: Swing for melee damage, Remnant Cleaver to throw the axe for bleed and slowness, Beartrap to stun a survivor, Scream to blind and highlight nearby survivors, and Charge to grab a target for 40% of their current health.

How do you unlock abilities in Bite By Night?

Abilities come bundled with their character, so you unlock a set of abilities by unlocking the character. The Rotten and the Customer are free. Every other character is bought with Scraps earned from matches, ranging from 800 Scraps for the Medic up to 6,000 Scraps for Ennard.

What is the difference between active and passive abilities in Bite By Night?

Active abilities are triggered with an input key such as Q, E, or R and usually have a cooldown, like the Fighter's Swing or The Rotten's Charge. Passive abilities are always on with no input, such as the Medic's Passive Healing aura and Ennard's Trust No One status hiding.

Which survivor has the best healing ability in Bite By Night?

The Medic is the dedicated healer. Its Passive Healing aura restores 5 HP every 2 seconds to nearby allies with no input, and its Self Heal tops the Medic up by 5 HP per second up to 40 HP. No other survivor has a repeatable team heal.

Do abilities have cooldowns in Bite By Night?

Most active abilities do. The Medic's Self Heal runs on roughly a 60-second cooldown and the Customer's Pizza heal takes time between uses, while big killer moves like Charge and Beartrap have setup windows. Passive abilities such as Trust No One and Passive Healing have no cooldown because they are always active.
